Crowd-Funding Sequels for Old Anime?

It would seem crowd-funding is the best way for fans to kickstart productions of their favorite Anime to receive sequels sooner than later. It would seem crowd-funding is the best way for fans to kickstart productions of their favorite Anime to receive sequels sooner than later. Ever since crowd funding projects was kick started by a little company called Kick Starter in 2011, established media companies have also capitalized on the demands of fans for more content to produce movies, games, and TV shows. But it would seem that it has now also proven to help resurrect old forgotten Anime titles many of us remember cherishing in our yester-years as one of the rare beloved OVA series called Gunsmith Cats has achieved its campaign funding goals in KickStarter.

Launched directly by AnimEigo, the campaign for a Blu-ray release of the original 3-episode OVA series earned a whopping $300,000 US dollars after its initial $75,000 goal in March, which interestingly was immediately achieved in four hours after launch. The Blu-ray release will also feature commentary tracks by the original voice actors of the English Dubbed version.

Yes, this isn’t actually a sequel to the original series being produced, but the successful  campaign has sent ripples of encouragement in the industry that will give both Studios and fans to collaborate in producing much demanded sequels to their favorite titles.

if you don't want to wait 13 years the way they made us wait for a new Full Metal Panic season, what Anime title of the past would you want to see crowd funded to have a sequel?Little Witch Academia: Enchanted Parade is one excellent example of a sequel being produced strictly by crowd funding when it achieved its initial goal of raising $150,000 in under 5 hours and ultimately earned over $625,000 at its completion which only resulted in the Studio rewarding the backers and fans of the Anime with triple the length of running time.

So… if you don’t want to wait 13 years the way they made us wait for a new Full Metal Panic season, what Anime title of the past would you want to see crowd funded to have a sequel?
