We’ve been to enough Anime conventions over the years to notice how much Cosplay wigs have improved to really give the Cosplayer that perfect hair to match their costume for whatever character they are dressing up as.
However, it is also common knowledge that just like any wigs, it can get pretty hot and uncomfortable the longer it stays on your head. Considering that even the most naturally silky blonde or red hair still can’t accurately replicate that shiny almost neon glowing color of hair most Anime characters have, the next best thing would be to actually dye your hair pink. But then it wouldn’t shine as much.
Well here comes Miku Hatsune, Japan’s virtual idol popstar to show you how to make your hair shine as bright and glossy like only a computer-generated character can look. Or at least, so her new video ad says as she endorses the LUX Shampoo & Conditioner beauty line during a minute and a half long product commercial along side… Scarlett Johansson. Yes, the same Scarlett starring as Major Kusanagi in the live-action movie adaptation of Ghost in the Shell.
As if to add insult to injury for those protesting against Hollywood’s decision to whitewash yet another Anime character, the commercial shows Miku Hatsune idolizing Scarlett Johanssen’s blonde hair, utterly ecstatic at receiving a phone call from the big-time American actress who tells her:
“Hi Miku, this is Scarlett. Being true to who you are makes all your dreams come true…”
Yeah, we know. Ironic doesn’t even begin to describe the amount of cringe felt from a Westerner’s point of view. But let’s face it, it was quite a treat for us fans who are just happy to see what Miku looks like with her hair down.
