Meet PICHU – The Miku Hatsune Cosplayer of France

by Tech-Geek Team

She goes by the name PICHU: She's lovely, she's French, and she's adorable as the most popular cosplayer of Miku Hatsune in France.

In her official Facebook Page, she writes:

"Let me introduce myself, I go by the nickname Pichu, a French cosplayer since 2007. I am fond of creating costumes and to embody a character. I make the costumes by myself, and i enjoy wearing them! I created this Facebook page to share my passion and my work. I hope you like it!

My favorite character is obviously Miku Hatsune, but I love to do other characters / personas as well!"

OMARU, the popular photographer/videographer of all things Anime and Game Cosplay in France, has shot a couple of very well made short music videos starring PICHU.

Watch the PICHU Music Video:

In the latest video shoot featuring PICHU, Omaru notes down some key aspects for anyone interested in filming their own cosplay music videos:

"It took me a long time to finish this because I had a busy schedule right after Japan Expo Sud 2011. I actually started editing the footage right after we finished but I then realized we were missing some clips and I noticed we had some bad takes.

A good example would be, near the end of the video, where Kaito tries to catch Miku, our actor looks at the camera which I didn't notice when I was reviewing the clip after the take. And because of that I was hesitant in finishing it....

And there are tons of inconsistencies in the video due to the fact we filmed 3 times and in different locations and of course having only 4 people on the team (me, our makeup artist and 2 cosplayers) and having limited time to film. Even though we had a storyboard which I prepared, it was still hard to keep track of things.

Wig placement, missing parts of the costume etc...

This was the first time I tried to do 2D animations on video. It was fun and I learned a lot from using PremierePro and AfterEffects.

In any case, I had fun doing the video and we plan to do a Version 2 of World Is Mine during the summer. So look forward to that!

For those of you who are interested in doing these kinds of videos. My tips would be:

1. Storyboard. Storyboard. Storyboard. Storyboard.
2. Scout your locations before actual filming.
3. It would be nice to have an assistant who can keep track of things for you. Bring along some friends to help you out.
4. HAVE FUN.

I hope you guys enjoy the video."

We do see the evolution of "Cosplay" all around the world and how much it has grown in popularity and in terms of quality throughout the past 10 years. With talented artists like Omaru and very gifted cosplayers like Pichu, the flame of anime fandom will continue to burn bright for future fans worldwide!
