While the Anime adaptation back in 2011 definitely increased the popularity of Steins;Gate even more, international fans have been torrenting mods for the Japanese game version containing fan-made English subtitles for years now. Well for those of us who couldn't be bothered with messing around the ins and outs of internet game piracy and hackery, the wait was over when an English version was released for the PS3/PS-Vita in August 2015.
However, 5pb. x Nitroplus Games just announced that its Steins;Gate game will now be available for Windows PC users via Steam this coming September 9, 2016. The English version of Steins;Gate will also be available for the iOS coming later this fall.
5pb. Games also has an official English website for the game release. Watch the trailer below:
Steins;Gate originally debuted in Japan as a visual novel game for the Xbox 360 in 2009 and for the PC in 2010 (Japanese) before the game was released for the Playstation Portable later in 2011 and a PS3 version in 2012.
For everyone else waiting on the sequel game, Steins;Gate 0, there's no word yet on an English adaptation since the game was shipped for both PS3 and PS4 in Japan last year in December. This may be of great interest to those just starting out with the Steins;Gate visual novel games, especially if you were a fan of the Anime release because Steins;Gate 0 will have a story direction that takes a very different route from what is considered canon.
